Bengaluru road rage: In a deadly turn of events, a couple in Bengaluru chased a delivery agent for around 2 km and rammed their car into him, leading to his death. The accused couple, Manoj Kumar and his wife, Aarti Sharma, have been arrested by the police for the accident that took place on the night of October 25 in Puttenahalli area of the city.

The deceased has been identified as Darshan (24), who worked as a food delivery agent. The victim was a bachelor and lived in Kembattalli. He is survived by his parents and sister. The couple reportedly has been sent to 14-day judicial custody.

The incident has sent shockwaves across the city, especially after the CCTV video of the deadly chase surfaced on social media. In the video, the couple’s car is seen right behind Darshan’s gearless scooter and seconds later, they hit him causing him to fall as they flee the spot. And all this because Darshan’s two-wheeler had brushed their car’s mirror.

Cops’ probe reveal details

The police said, according to a TOI report, that Darshan had even apologised to the couple, but left in a hurry as he had to deliver food. There was a pillion rider as well who suffered injury in the accident.

“Losing control of himself, he took a U-turn and chased Darshan’s scooter. In a few minutes, he spotted Darshan. Pressing the accelerator, Kumar rammed the car into Darshan’s scooter from behind and sped away. Both Darshan and Varun fell onto the road,” an official told TOI.

The official added they have found the couple was waiting for the delivery boy at a distance around 9.40 pm in their four wheeler. “The couple, wearing masks, was seen collecting parts of the car that had come off while ramming the scooter. The couple then drove back and this time, their faces were clearly visible,” police said, added the report.

They were caught as they returned to the accident site to collect parts of the car that had come off due to the hitting. Deputy commissioner of police (South), Lokesh Jagalasar, said the accused have confessed to the crime.
