The Election Commission of India has developed a tech platform called Election Seizure Management System (ESMS). The platform is for real-time updates on seizures from the field. The updates will be provided by multiple state and central enforcement agencies.

The platform also ensures seamless coordination and intelligence sharing amongst enforcement agencies. It will also facilitate qualitative analysis and planning.

This platform will be used for the first time during the state assembly elections that are scheduled for November 2023 in the five states.

The State Assembly Election dates were announced on October 9, 2023 in a press conference. Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar announced the dates for the five states that are to hold the assembly elections. The states are scheduled to hold elections from November 7, 2023 to November 30, 2023. The counting of votes will be done on December 3, 2023 followed by the announcement of results.

There had been a buzz around ‘One Nation, One Poll’, but the announcement of the dates for state elections makes it clear that Lok Sabha elections will be held in 2024.

Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar had said earlier that the panel was ready to conduct elections as per legal provisions.

Elections are to be held in Mizoram on November 7, Chhattisgarh on November 7 and November 17, Madhya Pradesh on November 17, Rajasthan on November 23 and Telangana on November 30. The polling in Chhattisgarh will be done in two phases on the mentioned dates.
