The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday questioned Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and recorded his statement in connection with the excise policy case, news agency ANI reported. The CBI has also been given permission to produce CM Kejriwal before the concerned trial court on Wednesday (June 26).
While Kejriwal has not been arrested yet, the CBI is likely to request for his custody before the trial court tomorrow, an IE report quoted sources from the Aam Aadmi Party as saying.
Following the questioning, AAP leader Sanjay Singh claimed that the BJP has come up with a conspiracy with CBI officers to frame Kejriwal in a “fake case”.
“At a time when there is a cent per cent possibility that Arvind Kejriwal will get bail from the Supreme Court, sources have informed me that the Centre is conspiring to register a fake CBI case against the Delhi CM and get him arrested by the CBI. The entire nation can see this and is standing in solidarity with Arvind Kejriwal,” Singh said in a video message.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are yet to respond to the allegations.
In a setback for CM Kejriwal, the Delhi High Court earlier today allowed the Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) plea to stay the trial court’s bail order for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief in the same case.
