Rajasthan Bypoll Election (Anta) Assembly Consituency Result 2025: Counting of votes for the Anta Assembly by-election began at 8 am on Friday at Baran PG College. Heavy security deployment and multiple layers of monitoring are in place to ensure a smooth process on the counting day. The bypoll, held on November 11, saw an impressive 80% voter turnout, setting the stage for a triangular contest involving the BJP, Congress and an Independent candidate.
As per protocol, postal ballots are being counted first, followed by EVM votes, while home voting ballots will be tabulated separately.
Neck-and-neck contest in Anta
This by-election has emerged as a high-stakes contest. The BJP has fielded Morpal Suman, who arrived early at the counting centre to monitor proceedings, news agency IANS reported. The Congress is represented by senior leader Pramod Jain ‘Bhaya’; although he has not yet reached the venue, his representative Bhagwan Dadhich is overseeing the process, the news agency further said. Independent candidate Naresh Meena, who is seen as a significant factor capable of denting traditional vote banks, was not present when the strong room was opened.
According to early trends from the Election Commission, there is a tight contest between Independent candidate Naresh Meena and Congress leader Pramod Jain Bhaya. After five rounds of counting, Congress is now leading with a margin of over 1,900 votes in the constituency. The counting is being conducted inside the college’s seminar hall, where 14 counting tables have been arranged for a total of 19 rounds.
Voter division
Out of 2,28,264 registered voters, a total of 1,83,099 votes were cast. The turnout included 82.32% men, 78% women and 75% third-gender voters.
Political observers say the early rounds suggest a neck-and-neck contest, with the possibility of frequent lead changes as counting progresses. The outcome of the Anta bypoll is expected not only to determine the next MLA but also to carry broader implications for Rajasthan’s regional political dynamics, especially under the Bhajanlal Sharma-led BJP government.
