Delhi Red Fort terror attack: The investigation into the terror attack at Delhi’s Red Fort metro station has agencies widening their search to multiple states including Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh — the prime states from where the ‘terror doctors’ have been held so far. The Centre on Wednesday declared the incident a terror attack, vowing strictest action against those involved.

From fresh CCTV footage, details about the bombed Umar Nabi to the possible links with several others — the facts being unravelled are shocking. A Hyundai i20 car exploded on Nov 10 at 6:52 pm near the Red Fort metro station in Old Delhi, killing 13 people and injuring many others. Now, multiple agencies are probing the case, including the funding of the Al-Falah University – which is at the centre of all the arrests, following the recovery of nearly 3,000 kgs of explosives in Faridabad.

Till now, at least four doctors, including one woman doctor have been apprehended for their alleged links to the blast near Red Fort.

Here are the top 10 developments in the case so far:

  1. Another doctor has been arrested in the ‘white collar’ terror module case. The Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad has detained a cardiologist from Kanpur, who allegedly has links with the arrested lady doctor under scanner. The detainee is a medical student.
  2. The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) has issued a show-cause notice to the Al-Falah University seeking its response on the claims that the varsity made on its website about NAAC accreditation. The agency said the accreditation has already expired. NAAC has now sought a reply from the university in a week.
  3. The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) is said to have ordered a forensic audit in the funding of the Al-Falah University. Now, the Enforcement Directorate (ED), Economic Offence Wing (EOW) and Directorate Of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) will be joining the probe looking for the finance links.
  4. In its first public address since the arrest of doctors employed at its campus, the management of Al-Falah university on Thursday said they had no linkage apart from the official with the attackers. They said the varsity has students from across the country, and the attackers were normal like any other student of faculty and the institution has no knowledge of any terrorist activity being planned inside it.
  5. Meanwhile, to ensure security, the authorities have banned public movement within the 3-km radius of India-Pakistan border in Rajasthan’s Sriganganagar for two months. The District Collector has also banned the use of brightly lit devices and loud noise-producing devices, reported IANS.
  6. Amid the probe, fresh CCTV footage from the day of the Delhi blast has emerged, showing prime suspect Dr Umar Nabi walking near a mosque close to the Ramlila Maidan, police said, according to PTI. In the video, Nabi is seen walking straight along a narrow lane before turning his head to the right — and at this moment, the camera captures his face. Officials are of the view that he may have visited the mosque shortly before the explosion.
  7. In another CCTV footage, Umar Nabi is seen driving the explosives-laden car across Delhi on the day of the incident. He was seen entering the Sunehri Masjid parking lot near the Red Fort at 3:19 pm and leaving at 6:28 pm. And 24 minutes later, he exploded the car.
  8. Nabi, whose DNA has been matched with his mother’s, was also seen entering the national capital through the Badarpur border in the i20 car. At Badarpur toll plaza, the bombed stops his vehicle and pays for the toll. Despite a mask on his face, he was clearly visible in the video. A large bag was also seen placed in the backseat of the car. Dr Umar repeatedly looked directly into the CCTV camera while making the payment, the news agency quoted police officials as saying.
  9. On Wednesday, the Delhi police alerted their UP and Haryana counterparts about a red Ford EcoSport car, allegedly linked to Umar Nabi. The car was seized from a farmhouse in Haryana and the owner is reportedly Umar’s friend, who is also being questioned.
  10. Another alert has been issued for a third car, a Maruti Suzuki Brezza, which is allegedly linked to arrested Dr Shaheen. The three cars, officials believe, were procured to carry vehicle-borne IEDs.
