Haryana Assembly elections 2024 will be held in a single phase on October 5. Counting votes for the 90-member Assembly will occur on October 8. Key political parties in the fray are the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). The tenure of Haryana Legislative Assembly is scheduled to be end on 3 November 2024. Out of the total 90 assembly constituencies in Haryana, 73 (number of general constituencies) seats are general and 17 other seats are reserved for SC, ST candidates respectively. Key constituencies in the state are Gurgaon, Ambala City, Panchkula, Julana and Sonipat. The last Assembly elections in Haryana took place in 2019 . The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) emerged as the single largest party in the assembly elections. It formed the government in a post-poll alliance with the Jannayak Janta Party (JJP). BJP's Manohar Lal Khattar and JJP President Dushyant Chautala were sworn in as Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister respectively of the BJP-JJP alliance government. However, a few months back, the alliance saw a rift and the alliance broke as JJP and BJP were unable to reach a seat-sharing deal during the Lok Sabha elections 2024. However, BJP formed the government again in Haryana and Nayab Singh Saini was sworn-in as the CM.
