Counting of votes has begun in the state of Goa. The early trends show that it’s a neck in neck contest between Bharatiya Janata Party and Congress. While AAP is yet to open its account. Senior BJP leader and Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar is expected to perform a Puja at the BJP office. The polling in Union defence minister Manohar Parrikar’s home state Goa ended on February 4. Before shifting base to New Delhi, Parrikar was a very popular CM of the state and there were speculations that he may return to the state if BJP wins the polls in the state again. Interestingly, such speculations were fuelled by other Central leaders of the party like Nitin Gadkari. However, polls have suggested BJP may not win as comfortably as it did in 2012 as elections this year was essentially a triangular contest among BJP, Congress and the new entrant in the state Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
