On Wednesday, the Uttarakhand authorities permitted small vehicles to use the Mussoorie-Kempty road, which had been severely damaged by a landslide caused by heavy rains the previous day. The landslide had disrupted vehicular movement in several districts, but repair efforts have now allowed for limited traffic.

IMD Issues Heavy Rainfall Advisory for Uttarakhand

Executive Engineer Navneet Pandey explained, “Due to heavy rain last night, this part of the road has been damaged. we have opened it for small vehicles but for heavy vehicles, it will take some time. Roads ahead, till Mussoorie is open.”

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an advisory for isolated heavy rainfall across most districts in Uttarakhand, except for Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar. The advisory warns of potential heavy rain in parts of the state on August 27 and September 2.

In addition to the Mussoorie-Kempty road issues, the Badrinath National Highway in Chamoli was previously blocked due to heavy debris from a hill. However, it has since been cleared for vehicular movement. Chamoli police reported that the highway sections near Gulabkoti and Paganala are now open, with ongoing work to clear remaining blockages.
