Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath assured the central government that any problems occurring in the implementation of the national highway projects within the state will be resolved quickly, as per an official statement. Adityanath also announced during a review meeting on the progress of national highway projects that departmental land will be made available free of cost for the expansion of the highways across Uttar Pradesh.

Obstruction will be resolved timely

The Chief Minister in a conversation with the Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, discussed several requirements related to national highways in the state. He assured that any kind of disruptions in the implementation of the projects would be addressed on time, be it with compensation processes completion to land acquisition.

The current rate of UP national highway’s construction

No projects related to the expansion of national highways will be delayed or obstructed in Uttar Pradesh, Adityanath stated. He also mentioned that the expansion of national highways expansion has fallen short in comparison to the national average of 11.77 kilometers per lakh population. Currently, the state has 93 highways which are spread over 12,733 kilometers. On the contrary, the state had 48 highways covering 8,364 kilometres in 2017. To meet the national standard, an additional 11,500 kilometers of national highways need to be built.

Infrastructure projects like the Mahakumbh event which is scheduled for 2025 and Prayagraj Ring Road which is slated for December 2024 need to be completed on an urgent basis, Adityanath added. He also urged that the ‘Braj 84 Kosi Parikrama’ route should be declared as a national highway and strengthening of Ayodhya bypass. Meanwhile, he also outlined the importance of Ayodhya, Varanasi, and Mathura as a tourist destination in terms of an increasing number of tourists as well as pilgrims.
