Around 60 cameras have been put up on the Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway to keep an eye on vehicles that exceed the speed limit and result in accidents. Additional Director General of Police, Alok Kumar said to Deccan Herald that he has asked the vendors to enable the camera system to check the vehicles who are violating the traffic norms.

The cameras are well equipped to look out for the cars that are violating the speed limit and will quickly generate challans accordingly. Around 48 cameras have been set up till now by the traffic and safety wing of Karnataka police. All the cameras can be accessed by the ANPR (Automatic Number Plate recognition). The camera’s placement has been placed on six spots in every direction. Video cameras have also been installed at three other locations by the (NHAI) National Highway Authority of India.

The Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway has recently been in the news because of the rise in the number of road accidents and traffic violations. Last year, NHAI sent a team to investigate the expressway. South India’s first expressway was inaugurated by PM Narendra Modi in March, 2023. It is 119 km long and has six lanes, 64 underpasses, 42 small bridges, and 11 bypasses. The project was constructed on a budget of Rs 8,408 crore.
