The Himachal Pradesh government announced on Sunday that HRTC buses have resumed operations between Kullu-Manali and Keylong after nearly four months of suspension.

The halt in Himachal Roadways Transport Corporation (HRTC) services since November, was due to snowfall in parts of Kullu, Lahaul, and Spiti districts.

The resumption of services on this route commenced on Sunday, with the first bus departing from Kullu at 7:15 am and arriving at Keylong by noon, as confirmed by officials.

Usually, these services would resume in May. However, this year marks a significant change as bus services to the snowbound area were reinstated in March, following the inauguration of the Atal Tunnel in Rohtang in 2019, as stated by HRTC Managing Director Rohan Chand Thakur.

The decision to restart services was made after successful trial runs on Friday and Saturday.

In other weather-related news, Shimla experienced light showers early Sunday morning, with the local Meteorological office forecasting a wet spell in the state until Friday, except for Monday.

Rain and snowfall are anticipated in isolated areas in the mid and high hills from Tuesday to Friday, while the lower hills are expected to see rain on Thursday and Friday due to the influence of a fresh western disturbance.

Another western disturbance is forecasted to affect the western Himalayan region from Friday onwards, according to the weather office.

In recent days, minimum and maximum temperatures have risen across the state amid dry weather conditions.
