Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari revealed in a recent statement to the Rajya Sabha that the Bhoomi Rashi portal is instrumental in expediting the development of highway infrastructure in India. Launched with the objective of streamlining the online processing of land acquisition notifications, this platform has become mandatory for all Land Acquisition (LA) proposals since April 1, 2018.
How the portal works?
The portal functions as a centralized platform where Land Acquisition notifications are submitted online by designated revenue officials of the state government, known as the Competent Authority for Land Acquisition (CALA). Once approved by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, these notifications are electronically transmitted to the Government of India Press via the e-Gazette.
Moreover, the Bhoomi Rashi portal facilitates the payment of compensation for land acquisition, significantly reducing the notification publication timeline and enhancing efficiency and transparency throughout the process.
Presently, the Bhoomi Rashi Portal has encompassed 1,467 projects of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). Details of these projects are accessible at https://bhoomirashi.gov.in/auth/revamp/search_proj.cshtml, reflecting the government’s commitment to modernizing land acquisition practices to expedite the execution of crucial highway development initiatives.
