The new RailOne app was unveiled by the Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Tuesday, July 1. Its primary objectives is to integrate passenger services like ticket booking, grievance redressal and last-mile connectivity.

The RailOne app has been authorised by the India Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) and is a commercial app made for the ease of the travel experience.

RailOne app features

“RailOne App is a one-stop solution for all passenger needs. Through this app, passengers get easy access to the following services: Ticketing – reserved, unreserved, platform tickets; train and PNR enquiry; journey planning; rail help services; meal booking in train,” a press note from the Railway Ministry said.

Furthermore, facilities for enquiries related to freight will also be made available through the RailOne app. Highlighting the basic objective of the app, the ministry said that it will provide a better experience to the users, realised through a simple and clear user interface.

“It not only houses all the services in one place but also provides integrated connectivity between services, giving the user a holistic package of Indian Railways services,” the ministry said.

Single Sign-on feature

A peculiar feature of the app is the single sign-on feature. This eliminates the need for users to remember multiple passwords.

How to use the single sign-on feature?

  1. Download the RailOne app on iOS or Android mobiles
  2. Login using the existing user ID of RailConnect or UTSonMobile app

It is as easy as two steps!

R-Wallet 3% discount

The Ministry noted that an R-Wallet (Railway e-wallet) facility has also been added to this app. Travellers can avail a 3% discount on unreserved UTS tickets. Along with this, easy login facilities allow users to login with a numeric mPIN and biometric like faceID or fingerprint.

“There is a provision for new users to register by providing minimal information, which makes the registration process easy and fast. Users who just want to make inquiries can also log in through guest login with their mobile number and OTP,” it said. Effective immediately, the RailOne app is ready for use. Going forward, the app will be display a chart, eight hours ahead of departure, which will be the updated version of the four-hour chart.

Inclusive Passenger Reservation System (PRS)

On the suggestion of Vaishnaw, the RailOne app features a “modern PRS”. It is designed to be ” agile, multilingual, and scalable to handle 10 times the current load” – which will ease out travel largely.

Capable of booking 1.5 lakh ticket bookings and 40 lakh enquiries per minute, RailOne might be the fastest version of Indian Rail travel for passengers to witness.

“The new PRS will be inclusive and have advanced functionalities for seat choice and fare calendar, and integrated options” for persons with disabilities.
