As per a notification issued by the Ministry of Railways, the new Vande Bharat Special train between Patna and New Delhi began its commercial operations today (October 11). This semi-high-speed train has been introduced to facilitate better travel opportunities for the horde of passengers that will be looking to commute between the two cities ahead of upcoming festivals such as Diwali, Chhath puja, etc.
Train number 02252 New Delhi–Patna Vande Bharat Special will depart from the national capital at 08:35 hrs and arrive in Patna at 21:30 hrs the same day. Passengers can book tickets online through the official IRCTC website or through other booking platforms.
Patna-New Delhi-Patna Vande Bharat Special train
An option of two different Vande Bharat Special trains will now be available to passengers looking to travel from Patna to New Delhi and vice versa. These options have been listed as follows
Train number 02251 Patna-New Delhi Vande Bharat Special (to remain in operation from October 12 to November 16)
Train number 02253 Patna-New Delhi Vande Bharat Special (to remain in operation from October 11 to November 17)
Train number 02252 New Delhi-Patna Vande Bharat Special (to remain in operation from October 11 to November 15)
Train number 02254 New Delhi-Patna Vande Bharat Special (to remain in operation from October 12 to November 16)
As per a report by The Indian Express, these trains will cover a distance of 1,000 km in 13 hours and 30 minutes. Among them, train number 02252/02251 New Delhi–Patna–New Delhi Reserved Vande Bharat Festival Special Express operates with 16 coaches, while train number 02253/02254 Patna–New Delhi–Patna Reserved Vande Bharat Special Express runs with 20 coaches.
Vande Bharat special train schedule and timings
The New Delhi-Patna Vande Bharat Special train will operate from October 11 to November 17, 2025. The train will run on specific days of the week, with the New Delhi-bound train (02253) operating from Patna Junction on October 12, 2025. On its return journey, train number 02251 Patna–New Delhi Vande Bharat Special will leave the Bihar capital at 10:00 hrs and reach New Delhi at 23:30 hrs.
On the other hand, train number 02253 Patna-New Delhi Vande Bharat Special will depart from Bihar’s capital city at 10:00 hrs and arrive in the national capital at 23:30 hrs. On its return journey, train number 02254 New Delhi-Patna Vande Bharat Special will leave the national capital at 08:35 hrs and reach Patna at 21:30 hrs.
