Western Railway announced a jumbo block will be implemented between Mahim and Goregaon stations on Sunday (November 10), for essential maintenance work. The block, which will last for five hours from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM, will affect the up and down harbour lines between these two stations.
In an official statement, Vineet Abhishek, Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Railway, explained that the maintenance will cover track, signalling, and overhead equipment. During the block, certain train services will be affected, including all Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) – Bandra – CSMT and CSMT/Panvel – Goregaon – CSMT/Panvel Harbour line trains of Central Railway, as well as some Churchgate – Goregaon – Churchgate slow trains.
“Passengers are requested to take note of the above arrangements. Detailed information to this effect is available with concerned Station Masters,” railway officials stated.
Enhanced measures to manage post-holidays travel rush
To ensure a smooth travel experience for passengers returning from Chhath Puja and Diwali holidays, Western Railway is running several Holiday Special trains and implementing key measures to manage high passenger volume. These include deploying additional Commercial and Railway Protection Force (RPF) staff for crowd control, ticket checking, and ensuring safety.
Stations like Bandra Terminus, Udhna, and Surat have set up holding areas, with over 50 Sahayaks at Udhna for assistance. Additional ticket windows, signage, and a systematic queuing system for taxis and autos have been introduced. Senior Railway officers will oversee operations to manage passenger flow and prevent overcrowding.
