Central Railway has declared a mega block in Mumbai on Sunday (September 22), aimed at completing various engineering and maintenance works on its suburban sections. This essential maintenance is crucial for ensuring the safety and reliability of railway services, according to a press release issued today.

Railway officials have urged passengers to plan their travel accordingly and cooperate with the administration during this maintenance period. The Central Railway has emphasised that these maintenance mega blocks are vital for the continued safety and security of railway infrastructure and services.

Affected railway lines and timings

The mega block will affect several key railway lines, with specific timings and services impacted. The Up and Down slow line between Thane and Kalyan stations will be closed from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM. During this period, Down slow/semi-fast services leaving Mulund between 10:43 AM and 3:44 PM will be diverted onto the down fast line, making stops at Thane, Kalwa, Mumbra, Diva, and Dombivli stations, and are expected to run approximately 10 minutes late.

Conversely, Up slow/semi-fast services departing from Kalyan between 10:36 AM and 3:51 PM will also face diversions. These trains will operate on the UP fast line to Mulund and will then switch back to the slow line, arriving at their destinations about 10 minutes later than scheduled.

Local train adjustments

Local train services will also see adjustments during the mega block. The last local service before the block on the down slow line will be the Titwala local departing CSMT Mumbai at 9:53 AM, with the first service post-block being the Badlapur local at 3:05 PM. For the up slow line, the Kalyan local at 10:25 AM will be the last train before the block, while the Parel local will depart from Thane at 4:17 PM as the first service after the maintenance work.

The last local service before the block on the Down Harbor Line will depart from CSMT Mumbai at 10:18 AM, while the first service after the block will leave at 3:44 PM. For the Up Harbor Line, the last train will depart from Panvel at 10:05 AM, with the first post-block service scheduled for 3:45 PM.

Impact on Harbor line services

The mega block will extend to the Up and Down Harbor Line between Kurla and Vashi stations from 11:10 AM to 4:10 PM. During this time, Down Harbor Line services departing from CSMT Mumbai toward Panvel, Belapur, and Vashi between 10:34 AM and 3:36 PM, as well as Up Harbor Line services from Panvel, Belapur, and Vashi towards CSMT Mumbai from 10:16 AM to 3:47 PM, will be canceled.

To mitigate the impact, special suburban trains will operate on the CSMT Mumbai-Kurla and Panvel-Vashi sections during the block period. Additionally, Harbor Line passengers will be permitted to travel between Thane and Vashi/Nerul stations from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
