The Central Railway has announced a revised suburban timetable for Mumbai’s Main Line, set to take effect on October 5, 2024. The changes aim to improve operational efficiency and punctuality, enabling commuters to better plan their journeys and reduce delays caused by misaligned schedules.

Revised timings for 83 suburban trains

As part of the overhaul, approximately 83 suburban trains will run with revised timings. A key update includes the extension of services, with 21 trains that previously started or ended at Dadar now operating up to Parel. This extension is expected to ease congestion at Dadar station and benefit passengers travelling between these major hubs.

Additionally, the newly constructed Platform No. 11 at Dadar station will help manage commuter flow, with 11 pairs of fast services shifting from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) to Dadar. This move aims to relieve pressure at CSMT, improving boarding and alighting experiences for passengers during peak hours.

Another significant change is the extension of six services that currently start or terminate at Thane, which will now operate up to Kalyan, improving connectivity for passengers on this busy route. Moreover, 20 fast local trains (10 up and 10 down) will now run from Dadar instead of CSMT.

Along with these changes, nine suburban services will run with updated timings and new train numbers, and 10 services will see adjustments to their originating or terminating stations. The Central Railway has also introduced nine new services between Thane and Kalyan, with stops at key stations like Kurla and Dombivli.

To further improve the commute, select fast local trains will make additional stops during peak hours. In the morning, Train A20 will halt at Kalwa at 8:56 am, and Train AN8 will stop at Mumbra at 9:23 am. During the evening rush, Train BL41 will stop at Kalwa at 7:29 pm, and Train TL47 will halt at Mumbra at 7:47 pm.

Late-night travellers will also see schedule adjustments, with the final train to Karjat (Train S1) departing CSMT at 12:12 am, and the last service to Kasara (Train N1) leaving at 12:08 am. These late-night services ensure continued connectivity for passengers travelling to distant suburbs.
