Union Minister of Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw on Monday went to take a look at the currently under construction Bilimora Bullet Train Station, part of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train project. He was joined by two other leaders – Dhaval Patel, an MP from Valsad, and Naresh Patel, one of the MLA’s in Gandevi – and the Minister got into the details of the station construction site.

Bilimora Station Design Blends Local Culture with Modern Infrastructure

Bilimora city, renowned for its mango orchards, is set to welcome the under-construction Bilimora Bullet Train station, part of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad high-speed rail corridor. The station’s design draws inspiration from the local mango orchards, combining aesthetic appeal with modern infrastructure. The interiors and platform areas are planned with ample natural light and ventilation, and the false ceiling is suspended using anti-vibration hangers to reduce the impact of high-speed trains.

Passenger convenience and sustainability are key focuses of the station. Facilities will include waiting lounges, nurseries, restrooms, retail outlets, lifts, and escalators, with special attention to elderly passengers, differently-abled travelers, and families. The premises will feature greenery through planted saplings, while the station incorporates IGBC-certified features like efficient water usage, rainwater harvesting, low-flow sanitary fixtures, low heat gain interiors, and low-VOC paints.

Located in Kesali village near Bilimora on the banks of the Ambika River, the station is well connected to Bilimora Railway Station (6 km), Bilimora Bus Depot (6 km), and National Highway NH-360 (2.5 km). The station’s total built-up area is 38,394 sqm, consisting of two levels: a Ground cum Concourse Level for parking, pick-up/drop-off zones, ticketing, and passenger amenities, and a Platform Level with two platforms and four tracks, including a 425 m-long high-speed train platform.

Track Laying Progress Accelerates

Construction of the RC track bed has been completed, and temporary track installation using the Rail Laying Car (RLC) is actively underway. “The Rail Laying Car enables transportation of 200-meter welded rail panels from the Track Construction Base (TCB) to the installation site, allowing for mechanised handling and placement of rail panels with minimal manual intervention,” officials said.

The station includes two loop lines, four 1 in 18 Turnouts, two 1 in 18 Crossovers, and a 1 in 12 Turnout to accommodate the Confirmation Car Base. Survey precision is critical for trains running at 320 km/h, with state-of-the-art instruments and multi-level verification procedures in place to ensure smooth operations.

Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train Project Hits Key Milestones

The 508 km Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train corridor has made substantial progress as of 10th October 2025. Of the total route, 325 km of viaduct and 400 km of pier work have been completed. Seventeen river bridges, five pre-stressed concrete bridges, and ten steel bridges are ready, and over 4 lakh noise barriers have been installed along 216 km of the stretch.

Additionally, 217 km of RC track bed construction is complete, with more than 2,300 OHE masts covering approximately 57 km of the mainline viaduct installed. Excavation on seven mountain tunnels in Palghar district is ongoing, with 5 km of NATM tunnel completed out of 21 km between BKC and Shilphata. Rolling stock depots at Surat and Ahmedabad are under construction, superstructure work on Gujarat stations is in an advanced stage, and elevated stations along with base slab casting at Mumbai’s underground station are in progress.
