In a concerning incident, a locomotive hit a one-foot-long iron piece placed across the railway track between Atgaon and Thansit stations in Maharashtra’s Thane district, officials confirmed on Tuesday. The Government Railway Police (GRP) has launched a probe to ascertain whether it was an act of mischief or sabotage.

Incident Details: What Happened on the Central Railway Line?

The incident occurred around 3:30 am on Monday on the Central Railway line. An overhead wire engine traveling towards Kasara station struck the iron piece. Fortunately, no major damage or injuries were reported.

“A one-foot-long iron piece was placed across the railway track. While it is unclear if this act was intended as mischief or sabotage, it could have caused a severe mishap, endangering lives and damaging trains,” said a GRP official.

Based on a complaint filed by a constable, the GRP registered a case against unidentified individuals under Section 125 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Indian Railways Act.
