Canada has announced the results of the Express Entry draw for ‘Healthcare Occupations’ category after a gap of nearly four months. Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has sent Invitations to Apply (ITAs) for the ‘Healthcare Occupations’ category under Express Entry to foreign nationals.

On November 20, 2024, the invitations to apply for permanent residence under the Express Entry system draw number 327 were sent to 3000 candidates for the ‘Healthcare Occupations’ category.

The date and time of the round was Date and time of round was November 20, 2024 at 15:06:25 UTC where the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of the lowest-ranked candidate invited was fixed at 463. The tie-breaking rule date was October 21, 2024 at 16:12:39 UTC

If more than one candidate has the lowest score, the cut-off is based on the date and time they submitted their Express Entry profiles.

The previous Express Entry for the ‘Healthcare Occupations’ category was held on July 5, 2024 when Invitations to Apply were sent to 3,750 applicants with the cut-off CRS score of 445.

Canada’s Express Entry program attracts a diverse range of foreigners, including international students and skilled workers, seeking permanent residence for successful integration and economic contribution.

The Express Entry is an online system utilized for managing immigration applications from skilled workers. Invitations to apply to the Federal Skilled Worker Program, Canadian Experience Class and Federal Skilled Trades Program may be issued through this round of invitations.

Category-based selection in Canada’s Express Entry system was launched in 2023. In category-based rounds of invitations, IRCC invite candidates in the Express Entry pool who are eligible for a specific category to meet an identified economic goal.

Some of the categories are – French-language proficiency, Healthcare occupations, Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) occupations, Trade occupations, Transport occupations, Agriculture and agri-food occupations.

To be eligible for the healthcare occupations category you must have accumulated, within the past 3 years, at least 6 months of full-time, continuous work experience (or an equal amount of part-time work experience) in a specific defined occupation in Canada or abroad and meet all of the requirements in the instructions.

Audiologists and speech language pathologists, Chiropractors, Dentists, Dieticians and nutritionists, General practitioners and family physicians, instructors of persons with disabilities etc may apply under Healthcare Occupations’ category.

The IRCC in 2023 enhanced Canadian healthcare system physicians’ access to permanent residence through Express Entry, overcoming barriers imposed by the “fee-for-service” model.
