Patna Metro Rail Project achieved a major milestone as the Tunnel Boring Machine also known as Mahavir 450-t EPB TBM -01 gets its very first tunnel breakthrough. The Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) has been extended to Patna University Metro station. It is said to be the first major tunnel stretch out. This step will give a major boost in infrastructure development of Patna.

The TBM was initially first commissioned last year in the month of May at Moin Ul Haq stadium, which has erected a 1.5 km long tunnel between Patna University and the stadium. TBM-1 has worked continuously in order to build this fully lined tunnel. With this, it also completes its maiden drive of 1.5 km ride leading to Gandhi Maidan.

This 1.5 km long stretch was most difficult in erecting as the capital of Bihar is densely populated and includes old building structure too. This major feat was conducted under Daljeet Singh, Advisor (Special Works).

Patna Metro is maintaining Hygiene and safety at all the construction sites. A dedicated team has been assigned for maintaining cleanliness on all the construction areas. DMRC is using 40% recycled water for cleaning the barricades and boards installed by Patna Metro.

The Patna Metro project will be equipped with modern facilities. It will be user friendly for differently abled commuters and for senior citizens too. The metro authorities are making it sure to make a Barrier Free Built Environment for the commuters as per international standards.

Completion of Patna Metro project will reshape the infrastructure of the city and will play an essential role in easing out public transport.
