Kolkata Metro commuters have reason to cheer as the operator announced that the Purple Line will see an increase in weekday services starting December 1, 2025. The line will now run 84 trains daily, 42 UP and 42 DN, up from the current 80 services, making travel more convenient for passengers connecting with Eastern Railway trains at Majerhat station.

Updated Timings for First and Last Services

The first weekday service will now depart at 06:40 hrs from Joka to Majerhat, instead of 06:50 hrs, and at 07:03 hrs from Majerhat to Joka, instead of 07:14 hrs. The last service will leave Joka at 21:05 hrs and Majerhat at 21:26 hrs, compared to the earlier timings of 20:36 hrs and 20:57 hrs respectively.

“With this increase of Metro services and extension of service hours, passengers of Sealdah-Budge Budge Line of Eastern Railway will be immensely benefited, especially during morning and late evening hours,” said an official from Kolkata Metro.
