The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) marked a significant milestone on Wednesday with the inauguration of its new integrated Operation Control Centre (OCC), a pivotal infrastructure enhancement crucial for the forthcoming Phase-IV corridors’ operational commencement.

Located on the third floor of Metro Bhawan, the new OCC has integrated control, enabling the centralised management of the entire DMRC network, including rolling stock, stations, signals, tracks, and more, from a single location. This development ensures remote visibility and maneuverability of the entire metro system, with continuous monitoring of both passengers and the system itself.

Presently, the DMRC is engaged in constructing a 65.2-kilometer stretch encompassing three priority corridors, comprising 45 stations. These corridors, namely Janakpuri West-RK Ashram Marg, Majlis Park-Maujpur, and Aerocity-Tughlakabad, are integral extensions of existing lines, aiming to enhance connectivity across the capital.

How will OCC help in efficient management of metro lines?

The inauguration of the new OCC was officiated by DMRC Managing Director Vikas Kumar, alongside other senior officials. This cutting-edge facility not only oversees the operations of the existing Red and Yellow Lines but also paves the way for the management of upcoming corridors under Phase-IV, ensuring seamless integration and efficient control.

The establishment of the OCC at Metro Bhawan consolidates the DMRC’s operational oversight, streamlining control functions previously dispersed across different locations. With an eye on enhanced efficiency and effective incident management, this centralised approach facilitates swift decision-making and prompt incident resolution, critical for maintaining operational regularity, safety, and security across the sprawling metro network.

Manning the OCC are expert controllers responsible for overseeing various facets of metro operations round the clock. From train movements to traction power and signaling, these controllers ensure the smooth functioning of the metro system, safeguarding passenger journeys and operational integrity.
