Telecom operator Vodafone Idea’s losses increased by 2.74 per cent YoY in the first quarter of FY26. The company posted a consolidated loss of Rs 6,608 crore in Q1 FY26 against a loss of Rs 6,432 crore in Q1 FY25.
While Vodafone Idea’s losses continue to mount, the company’s revenue has shown signs of recovery with a 4.89 per cent YoY growth in the quarter. The telecom company reported a consolidated revenue of Rs 11,022 crore in Q1 FY26, while its revenue in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal year stood at Rs 10,508 crore.
VI’s EBITDA margin improved from 40 per cent in Q1 FY25 to 41.8 per cent in Q1 FY26.
Vodafone Idea Customer base
Vodafone Idea said that its total customer base in the quarter stood at 19.77 crore. The company said that it lost 5 lakh customers in the quarter, adding that it is a significant improvement from the previous quarters when it was losing 50 lakh customers.
VI’s revenue growth can be attributed to the 15 per cent YoY rise in the Average Revenue Per User (ARPU). The company’s ARPU grew from Rs 154 in Q1 FY25 to Rs 177 in Q1 FY26.
The company said that it added over 4,800 new unique 4G towers during the quarter to improve its data and connectivity services. The company said that since the launch of the 5G services in Mumbai in March this year, it has expanded to 22 cities in India.
