October 2015 proved to be a great month for carmakers in India as most of them recorded impressive year-on-year growth. Though factors like interest rate cut and low fuel cost helped lure buyers, launches of several mass-segment cars actually made the whole difference. In the last four months, some highly-anticipated cars were rolled out including Hyundai Creta, Mahindra TUV300, Ford Figo, Ford Figo Aspire, Maruti Suzuki Baleno, etc for which people were waiting for quite a long time.

The story doesn’t end there, carmakers are yet to bring some of their long-awaited cars within the next quarter, 5 of those are listed here –

Tata Kite hatchback

Tata Motors is planning to roll out the much-awaited Kite hatchback sometime in December 2015 as the launch preparations for the car have already begun. To be positioned below the Bolt, Tata Kite will replace the aging Indica ev2. Powering the vehicle could be a 1.05-litre diesel engine and the 1.2-litre Revotron petrol unit. While the former is an all-new engine, the 1.2-litre unit is the same that does duty on the Bolt and Zest.

Expected launch: December/January

Mahindra S101

Long wait for the Mahindra’s micro SUV, code-named S101, will finally get over by the end of this fiscal year. Though there is no official word about its launch timing, we expect it to happen during the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo in February. Built on a monocoque platform, the Mahindra S101 could be offered with a 1.2-litre petrol and diesel powertrains. Expected to be priced quite aggressively, the S101 will be positioned below the recently launched Mahindra TUV300.

Expected launch: by the end of fiscal year

Maruti Suzuki Wagon R AMT

Buoyed by the success of the AMT-equipped Celerio and Alto K10, the country’s largest carmaker is now planning to add an AMT-equipped version to the Wagon R line up as well. Other than the AMT, Auto Gear Shift (AGS) as Maruti Suzuki terms it, there will be no change in the car. It will continue to feature the same 1.0-litre KB10 engine that churns out 67bhp and 90Nm.

Expected Launch: Anytime this month (November)

Datsun Go-Cross

Unveiled at the recently concluded 2015 Tokyo Motor Show, the Datsun Go Cross concept will become a basis for an affordable crossover for several emerging markets including India. Based on the Go and GO+ platform, the Datsun GO-Cross based crossover might make its India debut at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo. It will feature the same 1.2-litre petrol engine that currently powers the Go twins.

Expected Launch: Early 2016

New Ford Endeavour

Ford Endeavour has always been among the most loved brands in the premium SUV category in the country, though its outdated looks and arrival of more contemporary cars in the segment led to its fall. To counter its rivals, Ford India is now planning to bring in the new-generation Endeavour that’s already on sale in some international markets. The new-generation Endeavour will be based on an all-new T6 platform, which is the same that underpins the Ranger pick-up truck. Just like the current model, the new model will also accommodate 7 passengers.

Expected Launch: January, 2016
