The new-gen Maruti Suzuki Celerio has been launched for a starting price of Rs 4.99 lakh (ex-showroom). This entry-level hatchback has one of the highest claimed mileage figures for any petrol-powered car in India. It comes with a frugal 1.0-litre, three-cylinder petrol engine that churns out a peak power of 65hp and peak torque of 110Nm. It is being offered in both manual and Auto Gear Shift (AGS) variants. More importantly, it has a claimed mileage of 26.68kmpl when paired to the AGS. The exterior of the vehicle has been treated with a redesign, making it look a lot bolder than the outgoing model. It also rides on options 15-inch alloy wheels that come draped in black. The interior offers room for five passengers and has modern-day features like a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, steering mounted controls, engine start/stop button and more.

    With the new Celerio, Maruti Suzuki has gone for a more youthful design language. The is especially evident in the bolder grille with a single chrome line, the more pronounced headlamp units and the all-black alloy 15-inch wheels. Colour options for the new Celerio include Fire Red, Speedy Blue, Silky Silver, Glistering Grey, Arctic White and Caffeine Brown.

Maruti Suzuki should eventually release a CNG variant of the vehicle that would be even lighter on the pocket.
