Tata Coffee (TCL) has jointly developed an instant coffee product for the domestic market with its holding company Tata Global Beverages Limited (TGBL). The product will be manufactured by Tata Coffee, while TGBL will market and distribute it.

“TCL and its holding company Tata Global Beverages have jointly developed an instant coffee product for the Indian market under the brand name Tata Coffee Grand,” TCL said in a filing to Bombay Stock Exchange.

Tata Coffee is among the top exporters of coffee from the country. It produced 7,002 metric tonnes of Robusta and 1,594 metric tonnes of Arabica coffee for 2014-15. During the year, it exported 5,382 metric tonnes of coffee.

The company has 19 coffee estates spread over 18,224 acres situated in the Western Ghat at different altitudes.

The company’s instant coffee division reported 16% jump in sales volume at 7,677 metric tonnes for 2014-15. Half of its instant coffee sales come from Russia and CIS countries. The production for the year stood at 7,975 metric tonnes, an increase of 15% over the last fiscal. It has a capacity to produce 8,400 metric tonnes of instant coffee annually. Its offerings include freeze dried, agglomeration, spray dried coffee and coffee mixes.

Tata Coffee also exclusively caters to the requirements of Starbucks outlets in India. It supplies roasted beans to Starbucks outlets from its Kushalnagar facility in Karnataka.
