Public sector transport infrastructure company RITES has bagged two orders worth Rs 64.01 crore from African Rail Company and South Western Railways on Tuesday. In an exchange filing, the company said, while it received an order worth Rs 37.81 crore from South Western Railways, the order from African Rail Company is valued at $3.6 million, about Rs 26.2 crore. 

Order from African Rail Company

RITES stated that it has received the order from  African Rail Company for 2 fully overhauled ALCO Diseal Electric locomotives. The locomotives will be deployed in Zimbabwe, Mozambique and Botswana. 

 As per the order, RITES will supply and commission overhauled in-service Cape Gauge ALCO Diesel Electric Locomotives. These locomotives will be fitted with Cape Gauge Bogies, Traction Motors, Control System and Air brakes. 

Additionally, along with the overhaul at the company’s nominated facility, RITES will also provide warranty support with the deployment of its technical team, the company added in the filing. The company added that the order will be fulfilled in a period of 9 months. 

Order from South Western Railways

RITES received the second order from South Western Railways for the redevelopment of Tumakuru station. The order includes construction, redevelopment of signal and telecommunication systems and redevelopment of electrical general service. 

The company said that the order will be executed in a period of 540 days from the appointment date. 

RITES’s revenue performance

This is the fifth work order that RITES has received in the past 3 months. Earlier, it bagged work orders from the Gujarat Urban Development Company and the Republic of Guyana. 

On the back of a good work order book, RITES posted a good financial result in the fourth quarter of FY25. The company posted a revenue of Rs 639 crore and a profit of Rs 141 crore in the Q4. Its profit increased by 9 percent in the quarter.
