Myntra, the first e-commerce site to go app only, has reportedly taken a step back, according to reports. The reports say that the fashion e-retailer has rolled out a mobile website, which is at the moment in pilot stage.
According to a source, it is Myntra’s own domain and it offers only a catalogue but doesn’t let users purchase anything. The domain asks users to install app and provides a link for the same. What the domain has are few templates, which redirect users to either app or its app page in play store. The website asks users to view/open the page in the app only. The domain however is getting a lot of traffic and that’s why Myntra wants to keep it alive.
Earlier in May, Myntra announced to go ‘app-only’, making it the first e-commerce site to take this decision. Its decision to retract from ‘app-only’ has been linked to its declining sales and traffic. The officials have however refused to make any comment on the reports.
It is to be noted that Myntra’s parent company Flipkart, which had gone app only, has recently launched a mobile web version – Flipkart Lite – that aims to provide app-like experience.
