Brazil has shown strong interest in purchasing India’s Garuda 105 v2 4×4 Go-Anywhere Gun, a lightweight and mobile artillery system, as per a report by AFI. The defence system made by Bharat Forge Group’s Kalyani Strategic Systems (KSSL) is designed for fast deployment and precision strikes in tough terrains.

According to the report, P Kumaran, Secretary (East) in the Ministry of External Affairs, in his statement confirmed Brazil’s interest in the gun. His statement came just before Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Brazil for the BRICS Summit, which will be held from July 5 to 8.

Garuda 105 v2 has high mobility and advanced features

The Garuda 105 v2 is mounted on a 4×4 vehicle and weighs just 900 kg. Its light weight is due to the use of high-strength aluminium and an innovative hybrid recoil system. These features make it easy to move and ideal for operations in high-altitude and remote areas.

The gun can fire rocket-assisted projectiles up to a range of 19.5 kilometres, offering flexibility for different combat needs.

Boost to defence ties and Make in India

Kumaran said both countries are holding talks on deeper defence cooperation. This includes joint ventures and technology sharing, reports AFI. The move is expected to play a significant role in India’s push to boost defence exports under the ‘Make in India’ and ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ programmes.

The Garuda 105 v2 is also emerging as a key platform of interest, as it is already attracting global buyers even before its full induction into the Indian Army.
