Interview: Rohit Deepak Jalan, Business Development Manager, Linc Pens & Plastics

1The job: I love my job and that is the reason why I consider everyday to be a new challenge and it really keeps me motivated and inspired. Be it sitting at the desk, discussing opportunities with colleagues/friends, learning about new avenues, making business plans, making market visits or doing research, exploring new areas of development and diversification, signing contracts/deals, I love each and every bit of it. The varied profile really keeps me occupied and I think  I perform best when I am working under pressure.

2The weekdays: The weekdays are tiring and exhausting. Morning starts around 6 am. I either spend a couple of hours playing golf or at the gym and then try to make it to office by 9:30 am. I have a planned to-do list when I get to work apart from the tasks that land on my desk unannounced. I like to sit and brainstorm with my team. After winding up my work around 6 30 pm, I like to relax and spend time with the family or watching TV shows and movies, sometimes going out for a long drive or dinner.

3The weekend: Weekends are always fun and I look forward to them. On Saturdays, after I finish at work around 1:30 pm, I usually engage myself with different activities. I visit the Royal Calcutta Golf Club (RCGC), try to engage in some physical activities and also meet my friends at the cafe/pub/lounge during the evenings for a drink. Sundays are the best because I can wake up at my own sweet time unless there are guests coming over. I love going for drives, listening to music and at times I try to visit a spa/sauna to release some of my stress so that I am all geared up to take new challenges in the coming week.

4The toys: My Galaxy S4, MacBook and Bose music system are the gadgets that I cannot survive without. They are an integral part of my daily life and help ensure a smooth day at work.

5The logos: I live, sleep and breathe with brands. Logos/brands are everywhere. I admire how brands communicate with people and learn a lot from them. I make modifications and come up with more creative ideas and thoughts. Some of the brands that I admire and which in turn inspire me are Linc, Uniball, Apple, Louis Vuitton, Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, Hublot, Mont Blanc, Cadbury, Bentley, etc.
