Dr Reddy’s Laboratories has said that the Bombay High Court has granted an interim stay on an order issued by the Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for a one-month suspension of wholesale licence of the company’s clearing and forwarding (C&F) agent in Bhiwandi near Thane.
The company had approached the court seeking a stay on the state government’s suspension order after the state regulator found some “violations” with regard to some samples found in the warehouse.
“The order relates only to the wholesale license of the clearing and forwarding agent. In our opinion there has been no violation of any statute or regulation by the company and it has been in compliance,” according to Dr Reddy’s spokesperson.
“The product being investigated is not a drug and is neither manufactured nor marketed by us. An interim stay has been granted today (Friday) by the high court for two weeks,” the spokesperson added. Besides, Dr Reddy’s shall approach the state minister on January 12th as directed by the court.
The suspension is reportedly from January 12 to February 10, 2015, and the items in question include hand sanitisers/hand wash made by a third-party vendor being used for promotional activities. Reports had earlier said that the Maharashtra FDA officials decided to suspend Dr Reddy’s activities as there was violation of the conditions for licence including things such as proper signatures and maintenance of notes.
