Swiggy‘s quick commerce arm, Instamart, on Friday announced the appointment of former Flipkart senior executive Ankit Jain as its senior vice president (operations), adding to the list of high-profile appointments it has made in recent months. Before this, Jain was the senior vice president, head of grocery and large supply chain and Ekart design at Flipkart.
In his new role, Jain would take care of Instamart’s supply chain management, dark store operations, delivery experience and network expansion. He will closely work with Instamart CEO Amitesh Jha, who was earlier his colleague at Flipkart.
“Ankit’s deep, hands-on experience across e-commerce, retail, and FMCG will be a strong force in further strengthening our operations, leading the way in delivery speed, availability, and assortment for our consumers,” Jha said.
Before Flipkart, Ankit was at Unilever for 14 years, holding various roles such as general manager of demand planning and director of logistics and warehousing, managing end-to-end supply chain operations across multiple geographies.
Jain would essentially replace Sairam Krishnamurthy, who served as Instamart’s first chief operating officer and stepped down recently.
Swiggy has hired several Flipkart executives like Shalabh Shrivastava, who is now its SVP of driver org, and Hari Kumar G, now SVP and CBO for Instamart, among others.
At the same time, Flipkart has seen a series of exits as it looks to streamline its operations and reduce cash burn ahead of the IPO. Apart from Jain, Prajakta Kanaglekar, VP, human resources (HR) (technology), and Anurag Singhvi, VP, head of analytics, and Cleartrip’s CPTO Ganesh Ramaswamy, have quit in recent months.
Instamart has been expanding its presence across the country as competition heats up in the 10-minute delivery space. In the previous quarter, Q4FY25, it added more than 300 dark stores and mega pods — larger stores with around 50k SKUs. The company is now present in more than 120 cities.
Recently, Swiggy has also rebranded Instamart, dropping the name of the parent company, aiming to form a standalone brand identity for the platform.
“Instamart’s promise has grown beyond grocery categories, tier-1 cities and food delivery users,” said Mayur Hola, head of brand at Swiggy.
