Maruti Suzuki India has recorded retail sales of over 75,000 units since the start of Navratra, which also coincides with the rollout of the GST 2.0 regime.
GST 2.0 & festive cheer drive record traction
Partho Banerjee, senior executive officer, marketing & sales, Maruti Suzuki India, said that the company is now getting almost 80,000 inquiries per day, nearly double of 40,000-45,000 per day it usually gets, while it is also clocking close to 18,000 bookings per day.
“Customer response continues to be very strong. Retail sales have already touched 75,000 units and are expected to cross 80,000 by end of Thursday,” Banerjee said.
Small cars lead surge, Price cuts boost affordability
Banerjee said the company’s small cars are finding a lot of traction.
“Bookings remain robust, with small cars leading the momentum, registering 50% growth compared to earlier levels. Beyond top 100 cities, we are seeing booking growth close to 100% for small cars. Overall bookings across all models have grown by 35%,” he said.
The company’s strong sales performance comes in the backdrop of price cuts announced under the GST 2.0 regime. The GST 2.0 regime kicked in on Monday with GST on vehicles cut to 18% and 40%.
In August, Maruti Suzuki sold 180,683 units, with domestic sales amounting to 134,050 units.
Maruti Suzuki has announced sweeping price cuts across its vehicle lineup. Effective from September 22, car prices have been slashed by up to Rs 1.29 lakh, making models such as the S-Presso, Alto K10, Swift, Dzire, Brezza, and Fronx significantly more affordable.
Earlier on Monday, Maruti Suzuki India reported retail sales of 30,000 units.
