For a large number of youngsters who have started their professional career during the pandemic, going back to office itself is a new experience. IT giant Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) knows that, and has therefore lent them a helping hand so that they can “bring their best self to work”.
A key component of that “best self” is adherence to a dress code as the freshers needed to be reminded that the days of wearing shorts and T-shirts while working from home were truly over.
In a recent mail to employees, Milind Lakkad, chief human resource officer, said the company looks forward to having all its associates working from office on all working days. “A large number of our associates have joined us in the last two years and have been working in a virtual or hybrid mode, and it is our responsibility to ensure they are well integrated – working from the office is key to internalise the TCS values and the TCS way.”
Lakkad said while working from office it is important to uphold the highest standard of professionalism through the way employees dress and represent themselves and the organisation. “This is key to creating the right impact with stakeholders globally. The dress code policy gives clear guidance on the right attire while carrying out official responsibilities and duties….”
According to TCS’ dress code policy, associates are required to wear business casuals like tucked-in full-sleeved shirts with trousers (men) and business dresses (women), from Monday to Thursday, and business formals on specific formal events like seminars/summits and client visits. The policy allows smart casuals, which include half-sleeved shirts, turtleneck, khakis/chinos, and kurti and salwar (women) etc. only on Fridays.
Analysts say freshers who joined IT companies during the last 2-3 years haven’t seen and worked in office premises. Moreover, these youngsters who are mostly college passouts need to learn more about formal wear.
