The launch of the much-anticipated U-WIN vaccine portal would be a top agenda of the 100-day plan being prepared by the Narendra Modi government in its expected third term, a senior official told FE on Tuesday.

The portal would track all the vaccination and immunization programmes in the country, and will be designed on the similar lines of Co-WIN, the Covid-19 vaccine management platform.

“On U-WIN, vaccinators would be able to upload and track all the details related to vaccination, including vaccination follow ups, registration, and certificates,” the official said.

U-WIN, aimed to revolutionise India’s universal immunisation programme, is currently being run in a pilot mode in two districts of each state and union territory. The official said that the platform would be linked to Aadhar cards of individuals.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman during her interim Budget speech on February 1 had said: “The newly designed U-WIN platform for managing immunisation and intensified efforts of the Mission Indradhanush will be rolled out expeditiously throughout the country.”
