Elon Musk’s Tesla will be recalling over two million electric vehicles on US roads. According to a Reuters report, 2.2 million electric vehicles will be impacted by this decision. The decision has been taken due to an incorrect font size on warning lights. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said that this incorrect font size leads to a significant increase in the risk of a crash.

This is the second time in last two months that Tesla has announced such a massive recall. Two months ago, the EV giant had announced the recall of 2.03 million vehicles. At that time, the decision was taken to install new safeguards in Tesla’s Autopilot advanced driver-assistance system.

The latest recall will encompass all electric vehicles across various Tesla models, spanning the 2017-2023 Model 3, Model Y, Model S, Model X, and the 2024 Cybertruck vehicles, as stated by the NHTSA.

Tesla has initiated the deployment of a complimentary over-the-air software update to address the problem, as mentioned by the regulator. The solution involves enlarging the font size of the visual warning indicators for brake, park, and the antilock brake system (ABS), as outlined in the recall report. Additionally, the report notes that Tesla’s recently introduced electric pickup truck, the Cybertruck, is also receiving a software update to rectify the issue for units currently in production.
