Datta added that SUVs continue to claim centre stage in terms of the growth drivers for this Toyota dealership, “MPVs are amongst the top sellers. Hybrids- The affordable hope Another interesting trend that Datta pointed out is the demand for hybrid Camry in the luxury segment outlining an emerging pocket in terms of best sellers. Outlining Toyota’s strong hybrid technology push, Datta reiterated that this alternate fuel could be one of the most practical options for Indian markets, “I think hybrid vehicles are the most suitable for Indian road conditions. And the technology by and large is affordable to the masses and it really does not need any specific infrastructure to enable its adoption, like one does not have to stop and charge the vehicle and then move forward. It is just like, you know, walking into any gas station filling up your tank and proceeding to your destination wherever. I think that is where the trend is moving as of today.”

According to him, this also ties in with their commitment to reduce carbon footprint by 50% by 2030. He added that this has been “our priority. We are committed to the costs and all that we have to do to achieve profitability as a green dealership. Over the years, we have invested in new technologies and investing still more to ensure that we are able to leave a better environment or a greener planet for the generations to come. Our facilities have already installed solar panels for our consumption of electricity, and we have been reusing and recycling water resources.” Future forward Green and profitability are the operating words for Globe Toyota.

The dealership with 12 outlets in the Punjab- Haryana region is keen to have a touch point at every 40 kms. Strategic and ambitious is what Datta calls the expansion plans for the company, “Our future is very ambitious and strategic. We are looking at expanding our dealership footprints to new locations, moving from Tier II and Tier III cities into the rural areas, where we want to open up more touch points. Finally, what we are planning to do is to have a touch point or touch base for customers, where they can come and feel the product every 40 kilometres.
