Mistral AI, a France-based startup, added a new proprietary large language model (LLM) to the existing crowded AI market. It is believed that the new Mistral Large can give its competitors a run for their money.
With insights from a post made on February 26, 2024, Mistral Large outperformed several LLMs except for GPT-4 in a “multitask language understanding” test. It is also believed to have performed well in some math and coding tests, added Cointelegraph.
Sources revealed that Guillaume Lample, founder and chief scientist, Mistral AI, mentioned that Mistral Large can be“vastly superior” to Mistral AI’s earlier models. It is believed that Mistral AI also introduced “Le Chat”, which is an AI chat interface on top of its models just like the way ChatGPT is built on GPT-3.5 and GPT-4.
The firm is expected to have received $487 million in funding in December from Nvidia, Salesforce and Andreessen Horowitz, among others. Furthermore, it is believed that Mistral Large knows over 20,000 words in English. Additionally, it also knows French, Spanish, German and Italian, among others.
