The United Arab Emirates Embassy in India and OP Jindal Global University have forged a partnership to construct four state-of-the-art padel tennis courts on the university campus. This collaboration marks a significant step towards promoting padel tennis in India while providing world-class facilities for students and sports enthusiasts alike.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) sealing this partnership was signed by Majid Al Nekhailawi, Deputy Chief of Mission representing the UAE Embassy, and Prof (Dr) Mohan Kumar from OP Jindal Global University. The signing ceremony, held at the UAE Embassy in New Delhi, was graced by the presence of Dr Abdulnasser Alshaali, UAE Ambassador to India, and Professor Dr C Raj Kumar, Vice Chancellor of OP Jindal Global University.
Dr Abdulnasser Alshaali, UAE Ambassador to India, highlighted the UAE’s commitment to fitness and an active lifestyle, highlighting the importance of promoting sports, particularly among the youth. He expressed optimism about introducing padel tennis to India’s vibrant sports culture, fostering stronger cultural ties between the two nations through athletic collaboration.
The construction of padel tennis courts to international standards will enable OP Jindal Global University to host tournaments and training camps, providing students with opportunities for both competitive play and skill development. This initiative underscores the university’s dedication to enhancing sports infrastructure and promoting an active and healthy lifestyle among its student community.
Originating from Mexico, padel tennis has witnessed rapid growth in popularity worldwide, especially in the Middle East and Europe.
