Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis has arrived in New Delhi marking the beginning of his two-day state visit to India. After receiving the Guard of Honour at the Rashtrapati Bhavan on Wednesday morning, Mitsotakis said, “It is a privilege to be in India on an official state visit, reciprocating the visit of the Prime Minister to Greece a few months ago. For Greece, the strategic partnership between our two countries is of particular importance and we will have the opportunity to discuss a wide range of topics, political consultations, strategic partnership, but also fostering our economic lives between our two economies. So it’s a real privilege to be here and I’m really looking forward to the discussions we will have as the Prime Minister,” reported ANI.

After delivering a short address and a meeting with S Jaishankar, Mitsotakis along with his wife Mareva Grabowski-Mitsotakis laid a wreath at the Raj Ghat and paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi.

Foreign Ministers of various countries are supposed to reach the national capital to attend the Raisina Dialogue 2024 which is being held from February 21-23. The Foreign Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Finland, and Liechtenstein also arrived in New Delhi on Wednesday to take part in the Dialogue which will begin today. Mitsotakis is the Chief Guest and Keynote Speaker at the Raisina Dialogue 2024.

Welcoming Mitsotakis to India, Jaishankar took to social media platform X and posted, “Delighted to call on Prime Minister @kmitsotakis of Greece today. Valued his commitment to enhancing India-Greece ties. Look forward to the strengthening of our strategic partnership.”

What is the Raisina Dialogue?

The Raisina Dialogue serves as an annual forum focused on the intricate intersections of geopolitics and geoeconomics, with a commitment to address the world’s most pressing challenges. Hosted in New Delhi, the conference draws participants from diverse backgrounds, including politics, business, media, and civil society.

Described as a collaborative endeavor, the Dialogue convenes a diverse array of stakeholders, including heads of state, cabinet ministers, and local government officials, alongside influential figures from the private sector, media, and academia, fostering multi-dimensional discussions on global affairs.

Organized by the Delhi-based think tank Observer Research Foundation in collaboration with the Ministry of External Affairs, the conference represents a concerted effort to facilitate meaningful dialogue and collective problem-solving on a global scale. The theme of this year’s edition is – ‘Chaturanga: Conflict, Contest, Cooperate, Create’.
