In a successful search and rescue operation, the Indian Navy’s warship INS Teg has recovered nine crew members alive from the capsized oil tanker MV Falcon Prestige, which sank approximately 25 nautical miles southeast of Ras Madrakah, Oman, on July 15, 2024. Sources confirm that the rescued crew includes eight Indian nationals and one Sri Lankan.

Search and rescue efforts underway

Search and rescue efforts have been ongoing since the morning of July 16, coordinated with Omani authorities. The MV Falcon Prestige had a total crew of 16, comprising 13 Indians and three Sri Lankans.

Despite challenging weather conditions, including rough seas and strong winds, the search continues for the remaining crew members. Indian and Omani assets are actively involved in the operation, supported by the Indian Navy’s Long Range Maritime Reconnaissance aircraft, P8I, which is assisting in locating additional survivors.

The Indian Navy is dedicated to ensuring the safety and well-being of all personnel involved in this operation. As the search continues, the Navy remains vigilant and responsive, with further updates anticipated as the situation evolves.
