Why the campaign rocks:

It is important for me that advertisements communicate the sentiment of the brand, connect with consumers and create a long-lasting impact. The one I found impressive was the Google Pixel ad ‘Diwali Shopping With Dadi’, that brings together culture, generational bonds, technology and the joy of shopping during Diwali, quite flawlessly. It not only celebrates the tradition of shopping during Diwali as a vibrant virtual carnival (mela), but also throws light on the cultural ethos of the country where a grandmother and granddaughter set out to find a new version of the former’s traditional footwear (juttis). What makes the ad unique is that it strolls through the lively chaos of a traditional fairground, navigating the efficiency of an online marketplace, bringing technology and the Indian value system together. Emotionally resonant, the ad immerses viewers in the vibrant energy of Diwali. The radiant colours, heartfelt laughter, and intimate moments blend nostalgia with a bold vision of the future, emphasising that technology enhances—not replaces—our cherished traditions.
