Cricket legend Mahendra Singh Dhoni has partnered with digital-first insurance provider Acko in a dual role, as brand ambassador and strategic investor. The alliance is anchored in Dhoni’s belief in Acko’s mission to make insurance simpler, intuitive, and more relevant for the urban Indian consumer. The investment, made via his family office Midas Deals, is one of the cricketer’s many investments in companies, including Garuda Aerospace, EMotorad, etc.

A strategic partnership built on shared vision

Speaking on the association, Dhoni said, “As an automobile enthusiast, I’ve often found insurance to be unnecessarily complicated. Acko brings clarity where there was confusion. Their tech-first, customer-centric approach reflects the way the new India wants to engage with insurance. I’m excited to support a brand that’s focused on trust and transformation.”

Founded in 2016, Acko has emerged as one of India’s leading direct-to-consumer (D2C) insurers, offering auto, health, and gadget insurance to over 100 million users.

Acko finds the perfect match in Dhoni

Welcoming the cricketer to the fold, Varun Dua, founder of Acko, described the partnership as “a meeting of mindsets”. “Dhoni represents everything we stand for—trust, discipline, and the ability to stay calm while reinventing the game. His presence strengthens our resolve to rewrite the playbook for insurance in India,” Dua said.

The move is likely to give Acko not just visibility but also credibility in a sector often seen as complex and impersonal. With Dhoni’s endorsement and investment, the Bengaluru-headquartered company is betting big on mass trust to differentiate itself in a competitive insurance market and deepen its reach in the consumer-first, digital ecosystem.
