The domestic box office collected Rs 1291 crore in the month of August, reveals Ormax report. From what is understood, this has been the highest collection of this year. The cumulative box office for Jan-Aug releases stands at Rs 6,868 crore which is 7.5% below the same period in 2023.  

Stree 2 reported a collection of Rs 680 crores in the month of August with Saripodhaa Sanivaaram ranking second with a collection of Rs 77 crores. Furthermore, when the top 10 releases of Jan-Aug were taken into consideration, Kalki 2898AD became the highest grossing film with a box office collection of Rs 774 crores and Stree 2 came second with Rs 680 crores. 

According to the report, the language share of Hindi films have increased from 35% to 40% in August. Telugu stands at 19%, Tamil at 13%, Malayalam at 12% and Hollywood at nine percent, revealed the report. 

It was also found that seven out of the 10 highest grossing films were released on Independence day, highlighting the importance of major holidays at the box office, revealed the report.
