Weekends are all about downtime. After a week full of work to meet deadlines, everybody needs some breather to relax and recuperate. From watching a favourite web series to planning a vacation, weekends are designated as family and me time. Rustom Lawyer, Co-Founder and CEO, Augnito, talks to BrandWagon Online about his weekends, favourite vacation destination and more.
What is the one thing you like to do when not working?
Being a founder is indeed a 24×7 job. You’re always on call, ensuring you’re available for your team and tuned into everything happening across the company. However, when I do have time away from work, I cherish spending it with my kids. It’s grounding and reminds me of the importance of balance in life. I also find going on walks incredibly meditative. It’s a simple activity but allows me to clear my mind, reflect, and recalibrate—something that’s essential when you’re constantly making decisions.
How do you spend your weekends?
Weekends are my time to reconnect with my family and recharge. I prioritise spending quality time with my kids and catching up on much-needed rest. As someone who believes in performing at optimal levels during the week, I understand the importance of relaxation and sleep. I also use weekends to reflect on the past week’s challenges and victories, which helps me approach Monday with renewed energy and focus.
What are your favourite gadgets?
I’m a bit of an adrenaline junkie when it comes to gadgets, so one of my favourites is my off-road Segway. It’s a fun way to disconnect from the digital world while still indulging in technology. Plus, it gives me a sense of adventure without having to stray too far from home.
Given an option to choose another career, what would it be?
I can’t imagine not being an entrepreneur—it’s in my DNA. If I weren’t in tech, though, I’d likely gravitate toward something dynamic like financial markets or real estate. Both fields require strategic thinking and risk management, which are skills I’ve honed as an entrepreneur. They also offer opportunities for innovation, which is something I’m passionate about no matter the industry.
Which is your favourite vacation spot?
Phuket holds a special place in my heart. Thailand, in general, is stunning with its rich culture, beautiful landscapes, and warm people. Phuket offers the perfect blend of relaxation and adventure—whether it’s exploring serene beaches or experiencing vibrant local life.
A TV show, a movie, and an ad campaign you highly recommend watching?
For movies, Rocky will always be a top recommendation—it’s such a powerful story about resilience and the indomitable human spirit. Another classic is The Godfather, which offers timeless lessons on leadership, strategy, and relationships.
