Weekends are all about downtime. After a week full of work to meet deadlines, everybody needs some breather to relax and recuperate. From watching a favourite web series to planning a vacation, weekends are designated as family and me time. Nitin Jain, Co-founder and Director at Jewell Paints, talks to BrandWagon Online about his weekends, favourite vacation destination and more.
What is the one thing you like to do when not working?
I am a very inquisitive and a curious soul. You can even call me a nerd. See, a lot of people don’t love what they do and so they want to do something else when not working. But I love and enjoy what I do. I am grateful for what I have created, and I spend time to grow in that area. I read research journals related to the paints category, and I have a deep interest in new technology, so I read a lot about it.
How do you spend your weekends?
Weekends are for personal milestones. I have just finished building my house. My family and I are totally enjoying weekends at home, calling people over for get-togethers.
I am an explorer at heart, and I also deeply enjoy adventure activities, so I keep looking for avenues to experience the same. I have done Scuba Diving, Underwater Sea Walk, and Hot-air Balloon rides in the past. I have not done Sky-diving yet. So, these days, I am hunting for our next travel spot on weekends that can also give us some adrenaline rush.
What are your favourite gadgets?
Call me old school, but I enjoy conversations with people more than gadgets. I honestly avoid gadgets. I can talk to people for hours together on art, business strategies, and management. But hand me a gadget, and I will not know what to do.
Given an option to choose another career, what would it be?
Most people assume that business owners don’t enjoy art. I enjoy theatre and drama. In school and college, I performed in a few plays. Had I not been an entrepreneur, I would have definitely tried my hand at acting.
Which is your favourite vacation spot?
This will totally surprise you. I loved holidaying at Lavasa. Lavasa is a ghost town near Pune. I loved the place because there was absolutely no one there. It was calm and quiet. My family and I went to a theatre during the day to watch a movie, and there was no one else in the theatre. We were late by 15 minutes, and you know what they did? They rewound the movie just for us. Now, no spot will ever match this king-size tale we have.
A TV show, a movie, and an ad campaign you highly recommend watching
Movie – Founder & Air – I love watching real-life stories.
Ad Campaign – I don’t remember any recent ones, but our own ad on FreshAir is a good one too 🙂
TV Show – I have never had the time to binge on TV shows. I watch comedy shows on YouTube, though soaps are too much of a time investment. If I get hooked on, I skip to watch the last episode. When you know the end, you don’t feel like watching the in-between episodes.
