Weekends are all about downtime. After a week full of work to meet deadlines, everybody needs some breather to relax and recuperate. From watching a favourite web series to planning a vacation, weekends are designated as family and me time. Yukti Nagpal, Director of Gulshan Group talks to BrandWagon Online about her weekends, favourite vacation destination and more.
1. What is the one thing you like to do when not working?
As an entrepreneur working for the family business, one is hardly ever not working. But whenever I get a chance off work, I like to cook for my loved ones and host them for a hearty meal. At times, I indulge in sketching, as it’s a deeply meditative and exhilarating experience.
2. How do you spend your weekends?
Weekends are my time to relax and recharge. I often opt for staycations, turning weekends into mini-vacations to escape the daily grind without going too far. I love cooking, and weekends are the only time I get to experiment with new recipes or whip up my special dishes. As a movie buff, I also make time to binge-watch some classics or catch up on the films. It’s all about balancing relaxation and indulging in activities that bring me joy.
3. What are your favourite gadgets?
I’m not really a gadget lover, but if I had to pick one, I’d say speakers. There’s something about listening to music through a good set of speakers that just can’t be beaten. It’s my way of unwinding and enjoying the moment. Whether it’s a go-to playlist or discovering new tunes, quality sound makes all the difference.
4. Given an option to choose another career, what would it be?
Without a shadow of a doubt – Advertising! I’m captivated by the world of campaigns, problem-solving, and utilising language in a way to bridge the gap between entrepreneurs and buyers. From there, I think I would have eventually branched out as a writer, authoring books and creating a fervent community of enthusiastic readers of my own.
5. Which is your favourite vacation spot?
I’d say anywhere close to nature is my preferred vacation spot. Whether it’s the tranquillity of the mountains or the soothing sounds of the sea, I love being in places where I can connect with the natural world. Exploring these serene environments, away from the hustle and bustle, is what I find most rejuvenating.
6. A TV show, a movie, and an ad campaign you highly recommend watching
I’ve got one for each. For TV shows, I’d highly recommend Suits – it’s a compelling series with clever dialogue and engaging legal drama that always keeps you on the edge of your seat. For a movie, my recommendation would certainly be The Devil Wears Prada – it has style, fashion, and the best performances by a stellar ensemble cast of Hollywood A-listers. A campaign I truly recommend is Apple’s “Think Different” – it’s a classic and celebrates pioneers and visionaries who dared to change the world.
