The Job
I’ve always been intrigued by how people behave at work and what makes certain companies excel in achieving extraordinary results from ordinary people. This is what motivated me to get into consulting – to work with companies of different sizes and from different industries and help them crack this puzzle.
There are two things that drive me to take the day head on every morning. The first is solving problems with my colleagues. The second is to meet and learn from our clients about their business, challenges, innovation and see how we can serve them better.
The Weekdays
I am a good student of ‘early to bed and early to rise’. Starting my day at 5 am helps me stay ahead and find balance. Running, strength training or sometimes just a long walk on Juhu beach or whichever part of the world I am in, is normally how I kick things off. Marathoning has taught me the value of staying consistent, putting one foot ahead and then the other, focusing on the process. I usually attend to the toughest things first and get them out of my way. Even if they don’t go well, by the time it is evening, much has sorted out on its own. A laugh or chat with a friend, or a quick 15-minute read in the middle of my day is a good recharge. I try to not deviate from my schedule and let anyone hijack my calendar, but one must stay flexible to make way for urgent things that need attention.
The Weekend
Weekends are precious. I try to have a balanced week with work and play, but given my travel, the weekend offers a good time to catch up. My two children, who study in a residential school, are home for their summer vacation. We love the outdoors. This season, our newfound love is pickleball. I help them with their school projects and carefully pick content that we can watch together. My close set of friends are a part of the family and a strong support system. We all are in the phase where catching up for a post-run breakfast is a better idea than a rendezvous in a pub.
The Toys
Keeping my home gadget free is my intended way of life. My trusty Garmin is my go-to gadget, and I thrive on physical touch with nature. My “me” time is sacred. Catching up with a friend, sleep, reading, music and an occasional beer is irreplaceable.
The Logos
I was inspired by the book and show on Netflix called Minimalist. I prefer made-to-order experiences over things, whether food, travel, or a weekend excursion.
But I must say that I end up repeating Athlos activewear, Nike, ITC Hotels and Vistara.
