A survey conducted by YouGov shows that 55% urban Indians are planning to keep up with the Paris Olympics via social media updates whereas 54% will tune into TV broadcasts. The survey further reveals that 47% of respondents plan to stream the games online while 36% are going to rely on newspapers and news sites. 22% plan on watching the games at broadcasting venues while 11% plan to watch it live in Paris at an Olympic venue

Furthermore, it was revealed that men are more likely to opt for online streaming as compared to women while they are at par when it comes to social media update. 76% of respondents who are above 55 will rely on TV broadcasts among all the options and 53% of Gen Z or those between 18-24 ages will rely on social media updates.

The survey was conducted earlier this year with a sample size of 1025 adults over the age of 18. 

Additionally, 55% of the urban Indians who were surveyed opine that they watch the Olympics to support the country whereas 42% watch it for the excitement of it. 33% watch it in order to feel as a part of the global event with 32% of respondents watching to witness the athletes’ performances.
